Students expectation speech on the 11th Matriculation of Knutsford University College Full Expectation Speech: 11th Matriculation
Mr. Chairman, the Chancellor, Pro-chancellor, President and Registrar of Knutsford University College, The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ghana (Legon), Chairman of Members of Council, Director of Knutsford University College (Kumasi Campus), Faculty, Staff, Distinguished Guests, Fellow Freshmen, Ladies and Gentlemen, I welcome you to the 11th Matriculation ceremony.
Today is an exciting day. I want to give a big congratulations to everyone including me who has successfully gained admission to this university.
Mr. Chairman, before I proceed, I state that my mates and I had high expectations when we applied to Knutsford University College. The reality, however, has turned out to be more than we anticipated. I express my profound gratitude and appreciation to the founders of this institution for their vision and passion to produce scholarly professionals in the fields of Business, Science and Technology, and Communication studies to help students acquire the requisite skills and knowledge, so as to harness their potentials and become great leaders in our country. This vision is evident in the diverse quality, intellectual and seasoned Faculty, affable Staff who are always available to offer a helping hand, and facilities that are second to none. Indeed, there is no doubt that Knutsford University is one of the best Universities in the country, aimed at promoting quality, affordable higher education to bridge the gap between industry and academia. As students, we could choose to take advantage of this opportunity and facilities to share in this vision of this institution by becoming worthy ambassadors wherever we may find ourselves.

First, students are expected to learn and to be ready to be challenged intellectually. I must state to my fellow freshmen that the few years ahead of us are not going to be easy and we must be prepared. We shall be required to solve questions, perform different assignments, offer different courses every semester, some of which we may not like, all in an attempt to be able to proudly beat our chests and say we have also been through it all. This feat, however, can be chalked only if we sit down and study hard.

As students, we are to aim to be the best or be among the best. This aspiration should be seen clearly in our results after examinations, our involvement in class discussions and activities, our punctuality to lectures, our dedication to our books, and many more.
Again, Mr. Chairman, our punctuality to lectures is also another expectation we must not overlook. When students miss lectures, they sometimes tend to miss certain marks lecturers tend to award occasionally. This situation sometimes tends to affect the general class score.
Finally, Mr. Chairman, students are expected to take advantage of the various opportunities on campus and the facilities available to develop themselves intellectually and socially. We should take advantage and partake in every activity organized by both management and the student body (SRC). As students, we are all expected to adhere to the rules and regulations of the University College and also take advantage of the opportunities presented to us to make our few years of learning here peaceful, meaningful, and profitable.
Mr. Chairman, I strongly believe that at the end of our stay here, we shall not only achieve excellent knowledge in our various fields of study but also be very well-educated individuals with general knowledge of other disciplines.
To my fellow matriculants, you will agree with me that being part of the chosen few to be admitted to the Royal University is a dream come true, but remember just as our parents and guardians are responsible for bringing us to this world, we are also responsible for whatever happens to us. We have come this far by making decisions and living with the consequences. To obtain the best of this university, we must be ready to burn the midnight candles and stay focused because the future of this country depends on us. The great author, William Shakespeare, once said “we are born great, some achieve greatness and some have greatness thrust upon them.” So, I urge all of us to bring out nothing but the best to make ourselves, parents/guardians, Knutsford, and the nation proud.
I pray that God Almighty watch over us, prosper us, and make us all sources of pride to our families, university, countries, and humanity.”
“The Lord is our strength.” Long Live Knutsford University College! Long Live Ghana!!
And may God bless us all!
